Cuteness overload brings joy to residents at Featherton House care home

There was a wonderful buzz of excitement at Featherton House Care Home this week as residents welcomed some very special four-legged and fluffy visitors. The home was filled with smiles and plenty of cuddles during a heart-warming pet therapy session.

Lucia arrived with her tiny animal friends, including gentle dogs, curious guinea pigs, sweet little mice, a calm tortoise, and, as a limited-edition surprise, three beautiful baby bunnies. The sight of the tiny rabbits nestled carefully in residentsโ€™ arms created what many described as a โ€œcuteness overload,โ€ with the room glowing in delight from the very first hop.

Animal therapy visits form an important part of the homeโ€™s activity programme. These sessions are not simply about enjoying adorable animals, although that is certainly a highlight. They are designed to enhance emotional wellbeing and encourage social connection.

For many residents, holding a small animal brings back stories of beloved pets, childhood farms, or family life, creating natural opportunities for reminiscence and conversation.

Throughout the visit, residents were seen gently stroking soft fur, laughing together and sharing stories. Family members who joined the session expressed how lovely it was to see their loved ones so animated and engaged. The atmosphere was relaxed and uplifting, demonstrating the powerful impact that pet therapy can have within a care setting.

At Featherton House, creating moments of happiness and connection is at the heart of everything the team does. The visit from Luciaโ€™s tiny friends provided exactly that, a morning of shared joy that residents will remember fondly.
