Like minded people

We believe you will particularly appreciate our dynamic activities team, who plan workshop and social activities seven days a week. We also offer a range of services including hairdressing and chiropody.

We were extremely disappointed by the Grading awarded by CQC at their last inspection. We do not believe that the Grade accurately represents the quality of service that is provided by the team in this home and we have raised the matter with the CEO and Directors of CQC.

The latest CQC inspection report contains a substantial amount of positive observation of our service, and it is our opinion that disproportionate weight has been given to a negligible amount of anecdotal feedback, which is not supported by a range of factual evidence. In recent months, we have received very positive feedback from clients that use our service, their relatives, and external health professionals as evidenced on This has been very encouraging and this reassures us that our robust quality management systems are delivering continued improvements in our service.

We continue to welcome and respect the findings of CQC inspections and look forward to their next inspection at the earliest opportunity, to allow us to demonstrate the great service that is provided by the Manager and her team. In the meantime, however, we would urge those wanting to understand how the home is operated and the outcomes that are achieved to read the report in full.

We are always happy to share our development plans with you or discuss in detail the finding of this inspection.

“My mother was admitted/referred to Patcham Nursing Home in February of 2018. My mother had always been against care home care but once she arrived she settled in very well. The post-cancer, ongoing care and medical treatment that she required was excellent. The nurses and carers were incredibly loving, supportive and always made my sister and I welcome whenever we came to visit which was every other day some weeks i.e. we celebrated her birthday in the care home as if it was her own front room. Sadly, my mother passed away in June, something that remains with me is the support and care the nurses and team gave to my sister and I on her last day. It was a very traumatic day and night for us but what might be traumatic for us is a fairly regular occurrence for the home but they treated us both with huge support, respect and the dignity my mother deserved right up to the end. This is a fabulous, caring and very supportive care home. Thank you for everything you did for my mother and my family.”

“Excellent facility. Its main strength was the staff who were outstanding in every way, caring committed attentive and communicated wherever they were involved. The nursing staff managed all medical and personal issues.”

“I could not wish for a more caring team or for a nicer place for mum to live. The help and advice you gave in working out the funding and doing mum’s care assessment was second to none.”

“Patcham is very welcoming and the staff excellent. My mother receives first-class care and is treated with dignity and respect. She has been resident since April 2013, sadly her condition has deteriorated, however she is always kept comfortable and clean. The home is kept spotless by the cleaning staff, is well-maintained and the kitchen staff and standard of food/service is terrific.”

“Activities too, are well organised and relevant, often themed to the time of year or towards a special anniversary/event.”

“Management are always on hand should any problem or difficulty arise and any concerns are dealt with promptly and respectfully.”

“I would wholeheartedly recommend Patcham Nursing Home to anyone.

Patcham Nursing Home always has an up-beat atmosphere, usually cheerful music playing. Very clean and airy (no ‘care-home smell’). Staff very caring. Good activities and the best food and care I can imagine.

“My mother was admitted 2/12/14 and is still there to date. The home is spotlessly clean, the staff are excellent, kind, helpful and caring to all. The grounds are superb, food good, excellent laundry service. Activities are plentiful and the management are first class. I think my mother is extremely lucky to have been allowed a room here for the final months of her life as a family we could not be happier.”

We think you’ll love…

The rich history. Eastwick Barn was owned by the Earl of Eastwick in the 13th Century, and is even mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Our careful conversion of the barn means the original character remains.

The fabulous garden. Looking out across the beautiful Sussex Downs, the garden at Patcham is a peaceful haven for you. Many of the residents enjoy helping to maintain the stunning gardens.

The home-cooked food. Our chefs are completely committed to providing varied, nutritious and delicious menus, prepared by hand using home-cooked food and locally sourced ingredients.

The friendly atmosphere. Patcham benefits from a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. Our staff combine humour and kindness with the highest possible professional standards.

Our promise to you…

All of our care homes are regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission, to ensure that the high standards we strive to achieve are maintained at all times. In addition to this we have our own Governance Manager who supports the team in complying with all regulatory practices.
