At Wren House in Warminster, we were delighted to welcome pupils from The Minster School for a very special intergenerational visit.
The students spent time interviewing some of our wonderful resident nonagenarians, keen to learn more about their experiences as children during the Second World War. It was a truly moving and fascinating afternoon, as our residents shared first-hand memories of being evacuated from their homes, separated from their families, and adapting to life in unfamiliar surroundings.
The pupils listened intently as they heard remarkable stories, including memories of handling unexploded bombs and living through air raids. While some recollections were sobering, there were also moments of warmth and humour as residents reflected on friendships formed and the resilience that helped them through such uncertain times.
We are incredibly proud of our residents for sharing their personal histories so openly. Visits like this are so important, helping younger generations understand the realities of wartime Britain while giving our residents the opportunity to reflect, reminisce and feel valued.
